After voraciously picking up his sister’s leftover comics as a young lad, Pedro bought anything that had John Romita Jr drawing it, something he still does to this day. His tiny little hands grabbed whatever they could, and left him with a taste for Captain America, Over-Sized Hardcovers, Steve Weismann, Ballin’, Amanda Waller, and Hello Kitty. He has been known to call Alan Moore a crybaby, seen suggesting tweaks to Geoff Johns’ JSA, laughing at Joe’s Manifesto and awaiting the next single of Blue Beetle. The only thing he loves more than America are gay mutants. His current pursuits are playing Hard drums in Rock Band and finding your kiddie porn. He is happy to hear that his Metal Gear Solid fan-fiction has finally disappeared off the internet.

FBB Events - G. Willow Wilson and M.K. Perker at NYU

Posted over 6 months ago

Ever since I started grad school, I haven’t been able to go to many events in the city. But with school out this week, I had some spare time and noticed a posting on G. Willow Wilson’s blog about a talk she was giving and decided to check it out. I’m glad I did, […]

Thoughts from NYCC - Day 1 - I Came for the Creators

Posted over 6 months ago

I hate panels. I can imagine they are funny or thought provoking discussions about the industry and the process. I can even see them being more than just press releases I can get off Newsarama and CBR. Creators can use that space to discuss ideas and topics that can’t be done anywhere else. The hope […]

Oh how you like us now?

Posted over 6 months ago

I kind of asked Joe to do a little write up about this, but in typical Joe fashion it went in one ear and bounced off the portion of his mind dedicated to Smash Brothers.
So I took it upon myself to point out something that has been painfully obvious to everyone who has visited the […]

Of Land and Swipes and Scratch

Posted over 6 months ago

Right after the Wizard World LA announcement of the new additions to the Uncanny X-Men creative teams, FBB and FBB followers reacted with similar opinions. We love the writers, but one of the artists makes us shake our heads. It led to the production of an image that hit a couple of sites and eventually […]

FBB Roundtable: Books Only You Would Buy

Posted over 7 months ago

There was a recent discussion among several contributors on this site about the viability of a book put out by Marvel or DC that didn’t feature superheroes as the main hook in some format. The truth is books like that only speak to a small subset of the audience. It also got us talking about […]

Oldest Rookie in the Game

Wizard is doing an online poll for their annual fan award. They state it’s the only place online where fans pick their favorites in comics and pop culture. Yeah, Wizard is a pop culture magazine on the level of Maxim. Don’t think about it, it’s as stupid as it sounds. Besides we here at FBB […]

White Tiger

White Tiger: A Hero’s Compulsion
Marvel Comics
White Tiger isn’t a little bad, or a book that was marred with a few missteps. It is an outright handbook on how not to write a superhero comic. It seems to relish in a obscene number of cameos that will confuse […]

Forget JLA, I got the next big DC Movie right here.

Posted over 8 months ago

I was flipping through the previews for JSA on Newsarama. It was cute to see Johns point out that character count on JSA may be a tad bit high, but I was quite in love with this comedic bit featuring Jakeem Thunder, Black Lightning, and Lil’ Lightning (Sparkess?). It was a combination of something straight […]

Small little changes over the next week

Posted over 8 months ago

We been messing with the site design a bit, tweaking things and also changing stuff on the back end. We hope you like the small bug fixes.
I also like to say, that it’s great that there is going to be an arc of Rucka/Brubaker/Lark on Daredevil. The name just happens to be Other People’s Problems. […]

Okay, like my wife says, maybe I take my comics a little seriously, but…

Posted over 8 months ago

Pedro, you don’t really care about story integrity or my integrity or about defending Black Lightning or Geoff Johns.
You just want to feel like
“somebody” for instigating and winning a “debate” on teh internets.
Sir, it is a dick move.
Go on the Newsarama boards and pick a fight with some comic writer. I grow weary of you. […]

Coming from one of the biggest fans of Captain America of all time…

There is nothing wrong with the fact the current one is strapped.
Steve Rogers has used a gun in his time. He served in WW2. There is no reason he would not have used a gun in a time of war. He however had a impenetrable shield and super human strength. He had options that most […]
